ABOUT THE SLEEP NURTURER, QUALIFIED SLEEP CONSULTANT
Hi, I’m Hilary…
I am a Baby & Child Sleep Consultant, a mother, and the founder of The Sleep Nurturer. Additionally, I am a qualified Primary Teacher with Early Years experience. With more than 17 years experience working with children and families, I have gained a profound understanding of child development, the significance of well-being, the challenges parents encounter, and how to best facilitate lasting change together.
Holding a Level 6 Sleep Consultant Qualification for children aged 0-12 years, I established The Sleep Nurturer to provide parents with a source of non-judgmental, empathetic, evidence-based, and trustworthy expert advice. As a mother, I understand the joys and challenges that can arise at different points of parenthood and this, alongside my teaching background, means I know just how valuable it is to look at each child as an individual when a way forward is needing to be paved. Having been in the sleep trenches myself, I know just how tough it can be and what a difference it makes once sleep challenges are addressed.

Helping families both in the UK and worldwide, my passion lies in best positioning children to thrive, with sleep being a crucial element. Specialising in helping babies and toddlers sleep independently in 3-5 days and older children in 7 days, I know I can make a difference to your family.

I became a sleep consultant because I wanted to help others. As a sleep consultant I have the knowledge and experience to help. Qualifying as a sleep consultant required commitment, study, assessment. Being a sleep consultant also enables me to help parents move past the generic sleep plans that rarely work well for children,
My philosophy is that sleep is essential - essential for your child’s health and development, essential for you, essential for best positioning your family to thrive. Poor sleep is not something that needs to be endured past the newborn stage.
I believe in zero-judgement and a family-orientated approach. Poor sleep impacts on all areas of life and is really tough, but it is sortable.
Between 4-5 months of age, your baby becomes ready to start learning independent sleep strategies. Often within just 3-5 nights your baby can be sleeping well.
By using personalised and responsive techniques, sleep training is both safe and transformative.
My Philosophy
My Approach
My work focuses on addressing current sleep difficulties whilst also nurturing secure foundations for your child's sleep in the future. I believe that this dual focus is key, so you aren't just receiving a sticking plaster to cover up your child's current sleep challenges but instead are getting a far more enduring solution.
What I do:
-
Listen and respond to your experience, preferences, concerns and goals.
-
Find the root cause(s) of the sleep difficulties you are encountering.
-
Use real science and real data.
-
Include individual factors such as your child's age, developmental stage, temperament, any medical needs and their day-to-day environment, in all guidance given.
-
Provide personalised support and practical advice.
What I don't do:
-
Use unresponsive methods like Cry-It-Out.
-
Use junk science.
-
Promise you sleep goals which are not age or developmentally appropriate.
-
Use generic sleep plans or schedules.
